Energy Audits

ESPG has completed energy audits on over one thousand buildings. Our teams have identified and implemented improvements that helped customers avoid millions of dollars of energy expenditures.

To deliver best-in-class engineering services and solutions, we focus on what the clients' wants and what each facility needs. Whether residential buildings, or high tech manufacturing plants and military facilities, our experts seek engineered solutions that address adaptive re-use, system replacement or new construction.”

The Audit Process
The energy audit consists of several steps: data collection, preliminary analysis, on-site survey, final analysis, reporting. Early attention to data collection and preliminary analysis leads to a more comprehensive and useful audit process.

  • Data Collection
ESPG gathers information about the facility, obtains historical utility bills or data, and relevant plans and specifications for the facility.
  • Preliminary Analysis
A review of utility cost and consumption data and building systems information is performed to establish benchmarks and project parameters, and to generate a list of questions and issues to be discussed during the on-site survey.
  • On-Site Survey
An inspection of facilities systems and interviews with operating personnel designed to answer questions about the facility and its energy systems. The amount of time required will vary depending on the completeness of the data collection phase, complexity of the facility and its systems, and the need for testing equipment.
  • Final Analysis
The auditor evaluates all information to develop a facility profile and investigates appropriate energy efficiency measures/projects. Cost factors are determined for proposed measures/projects and a comprehensive report is prepared.
  • Reporting
In addition to containing a technical dissertation of benchmarks and facility energy end-use, the report should address financial and business solutions for the client. Since most energy audits result in recommendations for efficiency improvements, a discussion of mechanical, structural, operational, or maintenance improvements is provided with a cost-benefit analysis.”
